I wanted to share this short documentary that I found interesting. It gives you a good view into the world of travel hacking and racking up miles and points to earn whatever your personal ultimate rewards might be: A free flight to asia, comfy upgrades to first-class, and the freedom to travel in style when you might not otherwise be able to afford it. Keep in mind this video focuses on extreme tactics (i.e. mile runs). It’s interesting to see how the die-hards do it, but don’t think you have to go after 30 million miles like these guys. If you’re anything like me, you’ll get a rush of adrenaline the first time you get on a flight and realize you didn’t have to pay for it. There’s nothing better than feeling like you found the secret back door to affordable and even free travel!
I still remember the first time I was upgraded to first class on an international flight. I was returning home from a trip to Beynac, France to close on the purchase of a medieval cottage next to a castle in the Dordogne valley of France and start it’s renovation (one of my personal ultimate rewards I’d been afer, I’ll share more details in later posts) Since the French believe in building interior walls with masonry, my arms and legs were sore from all the demo work I had done which involved mostly small jack-hammers (un “marteau-piqueur” in french.) When my construction buddy and I were told that we were getting upgraded we had goofy grins on our faces for at least the next half hour. The big seats were a welcome respite, but what surprised me most was how different the flight attendants were in first class. They were more casual, more friendly, and when one discovered my weakness for Toblerone chocolates, she slipped one to me almost every time she walked by.
Living your dreams is part of what this miles and points blog is all about, and I’m excited to be a part of CreditSense and have the opportunity to share my best tips and tricks with you on this blog. I hope it helps you achieve whatever your personal ultimate reward you’re after.
